About

The Aesthetic was started as a blog in promotion of the hedonistic philosophies which Kierkegaard warned against. The Aesthetic focuses on maximising the potential life can offer, rejecting religious precept and in firm support of political and social liberalism. The themes of the blog change as my mind and opinions change, the development of ones ideas is an insight into the growth of the individual, hopefully the development of the work shows that.

The blog covers content around the broad tent of political philosophy with a loose focus on some topics covered in the A-Level specification of Religion and Politics from which the majority of the knowledge I had used to based on. I've utilised these ideas in a relatively successful school debating career, qualifying the finals of the Oxford and Cambridge Schools Debating Competition whilst also being finalist at tournaments held by the LSE, St Andrews and Harvard University. The ability to utilise knowledge into coherent thoughts and ideas was also helped by a strong knowledge of global history. This is something that generates through strong curiosity which I hope reading The Aesthetic helps you with.

I aspire to pursue a career in conflict journalism and will be studying International Relations at university, hence the future of the blog will be leaning towards less happier topics in the future.
